Profit strategy for b2b businesses

Do you want to improve profitability? Would you like a consistent net profit of 30%+? Would you like more time? Less stress and greater satisfaction? If so, let's chat.

Why focus on profit in your business

I have been a director and MD of agencies  (PR, Marketing, Research) for over 20 years and most of the time those businesses made a profit! But it took a real change of mindset to move from what I call accidental profit to intentional profit.

In the past I worried about cashflow, staff, clients, costs and business development but I didn’t obsess about profit.

Today I’m really focused on profitability in my agency and have consistently delivered 30% net profit. This focus on profitability has not been at the expense of my lifestyle, time or satisfaction. Quite the opposite! Nor has it happened at the expense of staff – more hours ≠ more profit!

I am an enthusiastic, practical, supportive, creative adviser with expertise based on experience. I work with directors and owners of small agencies and businesses (less than 50 employees) operating in B2B markets to help them embed profitability, find more time, get greater satisfaction and have happier staff.

How does it work?

My starting point is simple………I listen and learn all I can about your business. From there we’ll talk about the key areas of your business that influence profitability and personal satisfaction and then put together a strategy to implement the path to profitability.

I will work with you to make your business the success you want it to be. Unlike most business mentors and investors, I’ve never worked for corporates. I have hands-on small business experience and invest my time and energy to help owners build great small businesses.

Why work with me?

I’m an energetic entrepreneur with 30 years’ experience setting up and running businesses in a number of sectors including consultancy, IT, training, public relations, communications, consultation and research.

Over that time, I’ve dealt with most of the issues that face business owners from starting up in the dining room to scaling up and selling my shares. I’ve learnt to be creative, resilient and optimistic and to appreciate that you must enjoy today and not think it’s all about tomorrow. I believe that running business brings with it the chance to give the owners a sense of fulfilment and satisfaction alongside the opportunity to have an impact on the world around us.

I have strong analytical skills, am quick to understand complex situations, identify issues and offer solutions. I’m client-focused with an ability to interpret needs both articulated and un-articulated with great one-to-one interpersonal skills. I’m well versed in the reality of managing cashflow and finances, a good marketeer with an eye for the opportunity and a proven track of delivering healthy profits.

I am currently a very active chair of The Minster Centre (a training institute for psychotherapist), working closely with the chief executive to steer the organisation through a challenging period.

I am (slightly) addicted to the joys of road cycling, an improving bread maker, a keen cook and love nothing more than putting the world to rights with my wife and friends over a glass of wine.
